From what I am seeing from Monday to today this week is going to go down as one of the best weeks of the season based on how people are doing.....Last week was close but the bite was only good for 2 days. Hopefully this continues into the weekend which I think it will as these fish push south. There are still a ton if fish coming down from Catskill and north to Albany.

In case anyone was wondering the Creeks in Albany are still loaded with herring....my buddy sent me a vid...which means the big fish will be slow to come down.

We fished Norrie today and the fish are still here……we got 15 up to 34”. Water temps started at 64 and peaked to 70 at some points in the sun but were back down to 64.5 this evening. Still lots of fish up north.

Well it still aint over yet….so far we have put close to 40 more in the boat and the bite continues. Saw a bunch of spawning in Norrie tonight too. We started in Poughkeepsie early and did well then went to Norrie for the end of the flood tide into Ebb and they were biting well. The screens are not loaded but there are constant fish coming by btw the esopus lighthouse an Norrie……interesting that south of esopus island was pretty dry so i think these fish are still circling around this area north of the island and the spawning tonight explained why. Water temps started at 64 and hit 66. This drawn out spawn will make for some epic fishing in a few years. Marlboro to Cornwall was still a desert.

i fished Norrie yesterday and again did well……another 16 fishin the 25-30” range. The screens were not great but periodically the fish would come by in packs as they travel out. I had to so a lot if jigging to entice a bite when i saw them. What was interesting is several of the fish slammed the worms at high speed heading north…these were mostly the 27-28” ones. Water temps started at 65 but hit 71 when the sun came out in front if black creek….these channel peaked at 69. What was interesting is this weekend when fishing from Norrie up to the green buoy is the fish were traveling along the 39 fow line…..any deeper or shallower and the disappeared…..as long as i kept the drift on that line we kept marking fish. Clearly these fish are moving out but there still are a few more days left and probably longer as there are still striper and herring up north.

Official total for the year.....710. We have not caught fish the second week in June since 2019....this does fall in with their cycle though. In 2019 we had the same cold temps....water temps May 2019 stayed around 62 until the 31st when they climbed from 63 in the am to 68 later in the day and into the second week of June 2019 they were still 65-68. Basically this now confirms water temps keep them here. Studying my data our 2020/21 fish were all 12-20", our 2022/23 fish were 22-24 and most of our fish this year were 27-29 which suggests that cool water and 2019 class of fish did really well. That 2019 27-32" class is quite strong too.....all of those fish this year dug straight down and fought like 40" fish.

Doc and all those who posted during the season, thank you for sharing your information. We come a good distance to fish out of Newburgh and it very helpful to arrive with current information of the action on the river to assist in making our fishing day as productive as possible.

WoW I did not realize the went up the Hudson again in the fall. Thought they headed down from New England and went south along the coast and wintered in the Chesapeake Bay. How long does the action last??
