I have heard of people catching in Haverstraw and a few small ones in Poughkeepsie but last weeks weather really shut a lot down..........didn't see one boat on the river up toward Troy where is usually crowded already............hopefully this week changes although not by looks of today.
Keep it clean please it's to Early for bickering the season has just begun keep opinions to yourselfs or take it to pms and not on the forum. Thank you
I went out of Newburgh on Sunday. Water temp was 45⁰F. Seems way colder than I would have expected. Saw almost no marks from Newburgh down past Bear Mt. That was with my new Simrad side scan as well.
There's a bunch caught around Piermont by the surf casters and people are catching by Raritan Bay before entering the Hudson.
I'm going out next weekend April 25/26 for two days and I bet they will move north by then.
Snagged a sturgeon with the sabiki today at Albany. Swam away. Shad, 3 herring. Lost a big one at the boat. Boated one at 24", released. Few run and drops. Try again tomorrow. Clarity good, 51 deg.
We got out at 7am and started just south of Poughkeepsie where we managed one 16”. We did not mark much at all from trap rock to the bridge. We started to mark a few north of the bridge but no takers. We buzzed up to Norrie and did not mark much at all. The wind flipped with the outgoing tide and it got a bit rough. We worked south from there. Not much at Rogers all the way down to IBM. We had good marks there from 6-8pm but again no takers. Its a slow start compared to last year but thats a good thing. Back out at 5am.
