Hi new to the forum and have read alot of the aqueducts from you guys here, but mainly the southern ducts. Seems like you guys got some good fishing down there. Read striper bill website thanks really helpful and informitive stuff you got there. I used to live and work in the Bakersfield area for a couple of years and never knew about the aqueduct system was only 30mins from me. If I only knew back then, Oh well, at least I can still fish the northern ducts. Any of you on the boards ever fish this area, 132 Maze blvd near I-5 near Modesto, Ca.? If any of you do can you give me some pointers or areas where the big ones could be. I've gotten alot of channel cats there and 1 baby striper last Sunday I was using chicken livers and mini night crawlers thats what I got the striper on. Still looking for more stripers. Any info would be helpful im new to this and would help lots.

thanks.

Went out today. Suprised to see the gates actually going down. moss wasnt a issue either. Tried the fluke on a 1/2 oz red jighead with no luck. Might be my technique as i dont normally use a fluke. Switched it up to my 4 inch berkeley goby and i caught 5 small stripers. biggest being 15 inches.

Not gonna give up on the fluke tho probbly go out again tomorrow and saturday. Im expecting some storm wildeye gobys from bass pros. gonna see how they work out. Might try drifting too since the moss has eased up.

Was fishing the avenal cut off and huron area today

went out today, started early around 5am. Started with the fluke caught 2 16 inchers. Had one that felt big went under the line with floating balls by the gates and snapped my line.

Then tried a shad hard jointed swim lure and caught 3 one which was 19.

All that before 630.

Decided to head to the eastern side of the duct and seems the fish are in the cooler shaded side in the morning. caught and released 13 stripers on anchovie. Ranged between 15-18.

Nothing but catch and release today basically because im not in the mood for fish.

Had fun, havent had this much action in a couple months. Especially in the huron/avenal area

The bite is ON !!! 10 landed and 2 lost in 40 minutes . Same old lure worked deep with a quick twich. My brother had 5 by the time I had to leave. All in the 14 to 17 inch size.
the bite has really picked up in the last week ,catching in areas that usally only hold a couple of fish and pulling them out in numbers now ,3 inch swim shad twitched near the shoreline and 5 to 10 feet down. now that I moved into the 21st century and have a cell phone as soon as I figure it out I,ll post more pics of the days action.

went out yesterday after work in the huron area. Gates are down all the way. tried the side rails before the gates hooked on one but it was a feisty one and unhooked itself.

Went to the gates and as i said gates all the way down, used a 120LC blue and white with orange under the front. first cast hooked a 22 inch striper. 5 mins later got a 19 inch. Released both.

Water is still no boils. Casting up twards the gates and retrieving slow with a a jerk. 7ft abu spining reel combo with a 10 lb red color line.

Fought a carp for 30 plus minutes on thursday , only to pull the hook out of its lip.used the same old swim shad . Fish surfaced 3 times and looked to be about 3 foot and 20 to 25 pounds , using 8 lb line with a 3 inch soft swim shad.gates are alllll the way up and the fish have moved away from the gates and are hanging out on the inside edge after the bends .caught 8 shakers today tossing upstream and twitching it back down all fish were close to the bank.

Tried this spot with light current before and no luck, gates all the way up the lastcouple of weeks and the fish are grouped up after the corners.

Gates went down all the way today, water level dropped 2.5 feet overnight. All tnose fish hitting in the corners are now is the shade of the bridges . Cast up under and twitch it out , iwhen you get a hit set the hook fast , they are swallowing the soft swim shads.Taking my tablet next time to get some pics and possibly video.
