Hi new to the forum and have read alot of the aqueducts from you guys here, but mainly the southern ducts. Seems like you guys got some good fishing down there. Read striper bill website thanks really helpful and informitive stuff you got there. I used to live and work in the Bakersfield area for a couple of years and never knew about the aqueduct system was only 30mins from me. If I only knew back then, Oh well, at least I can still fish the northern ducts. Any of you on the boards ever fish this area, 132 Maze blvd near I-5 near Modesto, Ca.? If any of you do can you give me some pointers or areas where the big ones could be. I've gotten alot of channel cats there and 1 baby striper last Sunday I was using chicken livers and mini night crawlers thats what I got the striper on. Still looking for more stripers. Any info would be helpful im new to this and would help lots.

thanks.

Can't recall the last time the mendota has been running so fast for so long. Lots of weeds and stained water. They are still biting ,black bass and stripers using swim shad only 4 inch size to get down deeper in the current.can't wait until it warms up more and the current slows down for the bite to really get going.

Slow on the Mendota canal in the Tracy area . Water has either been roaring or almost at a stand still . Have caught a number of black bass but very few stripers . Switched up lures trying to get stripers ,rattle traps ,top water and hair raisers still very few stripers. On the good side the crappie have been hitting good in the delta rivers ,its a change of scenery as in not use to fishing with so much trash on the shoreline.Anyone catching on the Mendota in good size fish ?

Hello DoubleDiamond,

I went out yesterday to lower Tupman area with Lucky Crafts and saw a bunch of minnows or small bait fish toward the sides of the Aqueduct. The stripers are always hitting the top water morning and evening time. Just can't seem to get them to hit my Lucky's or Duo's. Is there better action up north by Kettleman City or highway 132? It seems to be dead down here or I'm using the wrong stuff ............... :frustrated:

Been really slow down south at Taft. I tried Kettleman City at Quail Ave today. Got one on the first cast with a LC American Shad. I tried farther up on 30th and down at the gates on Milham. No luck on either of them. Seems like their is lots of moss at the sides making it hard to repeat casts.

Anyone having any luck farther up then Kettleman City?

Its been real slow up in the tracy area for stripers . The black bass have become active again. Just have not been fishing the mendota as much as last year , trying out striper fishing at local lake and catching good numbers . Did fish for 1/2 hour yesterday in tracy area and landed 3 up to 17 inches . 3 inch swim bait jigging it in the eddy of a corner .

Work sent me a couple of times to fish near Corning last month , nice kings around 20 to 30 pounds . Fished with Guide Dave Jacobs on the sacramento . Lots of fun with a guide and lots of salmon . Hit or miss on the stripers ,my brother hit around behind safeway area yesterday and nailed some between 18 and 20 inches in about half an hour . been catching keeper size on the mendota with the same old shad.
