I have to admit I have not caught a single striper this year. I don't know what is going on, but could use some tips. I typically fish Hull, the Ditch, or Damon's point and have historically had decent luck 40-50% of the time landing something.

This year - nothing. In fact I have only seen one striper landed in my normal spot and I'm stumped. I feel like I am doing something fundamentally wrong. I typically did well chunking mackerel, clams or thowing poppers or tins. A few questions:

How much does tide matter? Time of day? How to tell what bait/lure to use? What retrieve speed for Stripers/Blues?

I live on the south shore but am up for a drive.

Shore fishing has been really tough on the south shore for the past 2 years. I fish spots very close to where you are fishing and have had very little luck. On the other hand out in a boat is a whole different story. I would make sure you're fishing either high tide or low tide an hour or two on each end. Don't bother fishing Damons this year, I've only heard bad things.
