Over the last 8-10 years, I've noticed that there doesn't seem to be as many big stripers below Guntersville dam. I don't think that we've eaten them all. Almost everyone I know, practices catch and release. Some of us keep a few fish every now and then, but throw the bigger ones back. I have also noticed a decline in threadfin shad along the Tennessee river. But largemouth bass, smallmouth, drum, gar and other species that primarily eat shad don't seem to be affected very much. Has the dept of wildlife and freshwater fisheries stopped or reduced the stockings? Or has the shad population affected them that much? Anyone here have any ideas?
