Hey guys hoping you can help me out. I'm looking for new techniques for catching stripers on the hudson. This will be my 3 season fishing and have only used live bait for stripers. Since I have cabin fever I would like to start buying some lures for the spring. I've pick up a few crippled herring jigs and a deadly dick jig, trolling tubes and some stick baits. Just wondering if anyone has had any luck with these lures and maybe some other ideas of must have lures. I will be fishing from a SOT kayak so I can troll/drift when fishing. Thanks

Ive often had luck in the spring for the early stripers with a smaller (3/4 - 1.5oz) swing hook bucktail jog worked SLOWLY across the bottom with a red pork rind being used as a trailer. The swing hook adds more wiggle to the jog and makes it seem like a crippled fish on the bottom.
