Spending a week on the beach in June. I have been there b4 walked out and fished for schoolies off the island with bass tackle free spool quantums and 7" rods. I can't remember what lures I used but was thinking about krocs with single hooks , 3-6" swimbaits with weighted 4/0-6/0 hooks I know its single smashed barb hook no bait c/r which is great.
I might try a 7 1/2 ' spinning I have, med/hvy with braid.
I am open for suggestions on lures or anything else Thanks to all, this is a great site very informative

You've got a good plan.

The island is hot for schoolies at low tide, look for the bait fish and throw single-hook swim baits. 3-6".

Also consider the mouth of the Morse River, just after high tide.

I'm on my phone right now, but will reply later today with a link to a great guide to stripers at Popham.
