I assume;
all the black radiused flanged spools are all plastic
all the Chrome spools are not aluminum
All the colored spools with chamfered flanges are aluminum (?)

The colored, chamfered flanged, aluminum (?) spools are the only ones I want for magging a squidder.

Do I have this correct? :icon_sad:

There were some red aluminum spools made. I'm not sure if they were by Penn or an aftermarket company like Accurate or Tiburon, all I know is that they're very hard to find (BTW, I want one. If anyone knows where one can be found there's a custom plug in it for you)

Sudsy-

Here's one I missed, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=015&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=250125702348&rd=1&rd=1

This goes tomorrow;(140L - late 1980's? Aluminum Spool)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...MEWA:IT&viewitem=&item=130123355971&rd=1&rd=1

Then there is this, "LOOKS" like it has the red aluminum spool, but generally it appears,,, More experienced looking too.

I may make a hit on this when it comes up;

Still looks like chamfered spool flanges are aluminum.
Plastic seems to have the big flange radiused (rounded)
Chrome has almost straight flange with very lightly rolled edges
But the air braked spool eludes me. Never seem to notice any advertised as such.
So, when is my plug comming? :ukliam3: :lff3: welcome.gif

The red aluminum spools are candy apple red and leap right out at you, there's no mistaking them. The maroon colored spools are plastic.

the red spool is the older one and the black one is a more recent one (am i correct?) the marroon one is clearly plastic but i scratched the ones i got when i first saw them to be sure. technical question i have would be is there a difference in the weight of those spools and how many revolutions it makes and how fast or slow it winds down if you had the identical mags in a reel with both the red and black. i seem to recall they are a bit different (not much though)

Thanks,
I'm assuming all "140L"s are aLuminum spool?
Been looking on the bay for one to convert to adjustable mag. Some of these clowns don't have a clue. Trying to figure from photo, it's not working because colors are off and pics can be fuzzy.
Kicking myself now for letting that one for $30 slip by.:icon_sad:

This is the red aluminum spool on a 500 Jigmaster, you can see how it's instantly recognizable over the the plastic spool due to both the shine and the shoulder.

From the assembled photos, all I see different is the shade of red.
Is the shape of the black aluminum identical to the candy red spool?

Just to add another photo of a black plastic spool with wind brakes with a rounded spool flange and a maroon plastic spool with wind brakes that has a beveled flange.
