I am new to striper fishing, Every time I use a fish finder rig the thing becomes tangled beyond recognition. It does not matter what kind of bait, live, or chunked. I have been fishing this rig in the surf, and off of jetties, and in canals like the one where the Bass river empties into Nantucket sound. How do I properly use this rig? :BenNudd: I have had some luck with a scup rig but seem to catch more eels and sand sharks than stripers.
They make them for braided lines as well. More expensive though.
Here the pyramid sinker is clipped to the finder.
You can tie a bank sinker on with line for an easy breakaway
if and when your rig is snagged.
A bank sinker is more aerodynamic and better profile in
rocks. The one pictured is better in sand. you should not
have problems with tangles with this set up. thumbsup.gif
If your casting into the surf, you may not be detting out far enough. The constant in and out water movement might be tangling your line. Or don't use the fish finder rig. thumbsup.gif
Thanks Fellas!!!
I will be sure to give it a try this weekend.
