Fishing is good practically everywhere. La Cygne, in eastern Kansas, Cheney, in the south-central part of the state, Marion, in central Kansas, and a clutch of western impoundments that includes Cedar Bluff, Kirwin and Webster.
Of the bunch, Webster might IS the hottest destination

Cheney Lake near Wichita.

Cheney Lake near Wichita. Fishermen trolling crankbaits have taken some impressive catches of wipers and white bass lately. Try Thundersticks or Shad Raps, the two lures of choice for locals. Early and late, fishermen also have been successful casting jigging spoons and Sassy Shad into schools of surfacing fish

Frenzy

Frenzy Welcome to the Board. 8)

Don't know Cheney Personally but it appears to be an awesome impoundment. Here are a few links that I think you'll find usefull. The first has everything you ever wanted to know about cheney. Halfway down the page you'll find a fishing forecast. http://www.kdwp.state.ks.us/pmforum/cheneysp.html
The map of cheney Natl park has locations of jetties marinas and boat ramps and other usefull stuff. except it opens in pdf. form. You have to have an adobe acrobat reader installed to open them. If not it will prompt you to download one.

http://www.kdwp.state.ks.us/PDF/Brochures/AreaMaps/Reg4/ChnySPWA.pdf

I hope someone will come along and give you some first hand stuff. the area tackle shops can be very helpful as well.
