Hi, Im going to be heading out to the east coast in 2011 to fish for stripers! Im from California, and it has always been a dream of mine to be able to experience fishing the surf around nantucket or cape cod. not really sure where to even head to. not expecting anyone to give out their honey holes im jus looking for a little help on where a good starting point would be on the east coast! any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a bunch and good luck out there!!

Try one of the local bait shops. They can probably point you in the right direction. The cape gives you many choices. You can always just try right out front anywhere on the national sea shore. You may get lucky, you may hit a dry hole.

Have you decided when you will be making the trip? That may be a huge factor.

If you were to head to the Cape or one of the islands it might be in your best interest to hire a guide for a day or two of your trip.

If you do end up hiring a guide make sure the guide service they provide is something you can learn from and replicate i.e. if you will be surf fishing on your trip it won't help you much if your guide brings you 3 or 4 miles out on a boat.

Bait shops do help but also don't be afraid to let people on these forums know that you're in from out of town and you're looking to tag along with someone. Often times people are happy to help.

Good luck!
