To clarify, the world record striper is the Greer's Ferry fish. The link above that for the 29lb+ fish is an incorrect hoax someone submitted to this site, according to Arkansas Fish & Game. That Bull Shoals fish was caught several years ago, and is still an awesome fish, thought the actual weight was unkown to the fish & game person, but less than 27lbs. Thx,Tom

Looks like Jim already removed that link to the Bull Shoals fish, so forget the above message. Thanks Jim and I really wonder what that Bull Shoals fish weighted because that was a valid picture (which is now deleted) and catch, someone just jacked with the story and exaggerated the weight of that big 'bird. Good fishin' to all---Tom

Thanks Tom
I couldnt find anything on it. From what I can tell the Wildlife agent in the picture couldnt remember the exact weight. I found that in itself odd. But looking at the guy he looks the sort who could care less or who just wants to get back to the bar. lol
But the fish looked like it could have been close . 25 pounds perhaps. Ill find a pic and post it.

Yah, the Wildlife agent doesn't look to enthusiastic about this particular record. Frank Talbert Jr. on the other hand looks pretty darn happy if ya ask me. :)

Ironically, said Arkansas Game and Fish Commission biologist Ken Shirley, the commission has never stocked hybrids on Bull Shoals.
The hybrid in the pic looks weird and doesn't even look like one.

Ok Tom I spoke to Mr. Talbert from Talberts Music store in Mountain Home Arkansas and he tells me his fish was 22.1 pounds and is a world line class record. 8-pound test line Bull Shoals.com
It was caught at Bull Shoals on that date. I couldnt get much out of him other than that though. His shop is very busy. :) So the info is legit on the url just the weight is not. The World and Arkansas record still belongs to Gerald Shaum at 27.5. Greers Ferry Lake.

The newest record wiper in Indiana was established in May 2005 by David Coffman of Frankfort IN: 22 pounds. I don't think it is certified yet, but that record was eclipsed about a month later by a young man from West Lafayette IN: 22.4 pounds.

Ouch!
Glad to read that again, 15lb wiper would put dem stripers I caught last month, to, SHAME! :)
I'll need to sneak along on that trip to TN, wouldn't mind my name on state or world record wiper.
I'd look like this guy, forever:

I like that "I am outta my mind fish-happy" look, I've been there a couple times, and it's absolutely silly and who cares? :)
Jeff
