On a couple of fishing shows I've seen, they were using a gold colored (fly) reel on a standard, non fly fishing rod, and catching huge salmon. It was a disk drag reel but they did not mention the make as most of the action was on the fishing itself. Does anyone know what this reel is, i.e., brand, etc. The shows were Hawg Quest, and one about BC fishing with Henry Winkler who was also using this type rig. Any help would be appreciated. I believe the make of the rod they were using was a Fetha Styx.

Hey oltymer, reading your post I immediately thought it might be a mooching reel similiar to the fly reel. They usually use long lightvrods I believe, but don't hold me to that!cabelas has mooching reels as do many companies I believe. Good luck

Yep, that's exactly the one. Thank you so much for responding. Didn't know such a thing existed, but I gotta have one. Thanks again. Oltymer
