I have been using 6-8" senko style fat boys on jig heads with good success

 

senkos and sluggos are now my second choice

 

Can't beat a A-27 Diamond jig with the Green Tube

just read in another forum about this years sand eel being on the large side, I have to concur, what do you guys think?

 

word on the street is sand eels will be heavy this year, what have you guys heard??

 

Tin and tube, sparsely tied teasers, and needelfish plugs.

 

When the sand eels were in thick, we caught fish on plugs, metal, teasers really anything long and skinny. I'm from Ohio, i even caught some on plastic worms...this is what your trying to imitate...AJ

 

thats what I hope to see in the belly of some cod fish in two weeks, anyone else going????

Anybody tried the gulp alive sand eels?

 

We don't get eels down here in south jersey, must be a northern striper coast bait...

 

you have them in south jersey J have caught 100's of them in cape may

 

I have never seen eels around here but I have tried the Storm sand eels and Gulp! black eels - never caught anything but flounder on the Gulp eels, maybe I should have fished the sand eel more on a teaser.

Well matched!

 

The Point Jude jointed lure is one of my favorite sandeel lures. Have caught many fluke on these, and small schoolie stripers while fishing for fluke. just make sure you work these on the sandy bottoms and jerk them quickly in the sand making them puff the sand up a bit. You can also swim these for the bass.
