so I gather the fishing is really slow, or really good.....anyone got any reports to share (no specifics!!!) I have not seen a lot of post lately and kind of curious.....as for me, quite slow but enough to keep me interested.
  2. Hudson River
The season started out pretty good till the rain came. The river turned to mud and haven't seen a striper in two weeks. Hopefully the fish move in and the water clears up before the ale house tourney on saturday.

It was real slow this morning, but we were able to get our limit. I think there was only three or four boats on the entire bridge. Always like opening day of gun season :) Most were in the 19 - 20 inch class. Had a couple over 24. Had something BIG on for a little while until he pulled off.

I was finally able to get out onto the Hudson near Kingston. We jigged up a bunch of herring in the morning, and located decent numbers of fish on the finder. We drifted live herring and chunks through fish for the entire outgoing tide and hardly even got a bump. We lost the fish after the...

Below is a link to a rather insane video of bluefish slamming topwater plugs in slow motion: My apologies if you'all have seen it...

I don't think I'll get many responses in the Carolina forum so I'll ask here. I fish on Lake Tillery in NC. We can catch striper in the spring and winter and pick up several around the end of July thru August trolling with bucktails. Typically it slows down from the end of August till...

ok guys my boat will only go as slow as 3.5 mph in gear @ idle, was thinking of trying dragging 2 5 gallon buckets behind me to slow it down, do you think this will work?? i've seen guys in the quabbin doing it on 14-16' aluminum boats but not sure what its gonna do for my 19' bayliner...

After a strong early season things seemed to have died right out....i stayed away from the weekend fiasco but fished Friday AM with just one runoff and then this morning with one runoff and then finally a little fish landed on a live herring on the drift..... I thought it may have been low...

Saturday May 9, you have good days and the slow days and today between the rain drops (Saturday) Gary Poole from NH his son and daughter in-law from Atlanta GA made use of their down time while here in Bristol for his daughter's wedding catching striped bass. Small bass are schooled up between...

I have a 21 foot Mako with a 200HP Honda, the slowest I can troll (using my GPS) is 3.2 Knots. One of my friends told me to drag my anchor, but I don't think that's a good of an Idea. Should I try swapping out my prop or investing in a trolling motor or is there something easier. :10464:

The Stripers up here in the Saco have been dang slow to bite. Tonight I am headed out on the boat with my last resort, live lining eels. Not because they are a bad bait, just because 1) they are expensive to buy and a pain to catch, and 2) even when iced I hate playing with them. The line sides...

I've been out for the past few days with nothing other than a few short hit and spits. The weekend was a mess with all of the boats and the tournament going on and not many fish were caught either day. Had a fish hit about 2 PM on Sunday during the tournament but it spit the bait. There are...
  15. Hudson River
it was dead out there for me today, not even the smallies would bite. fished the creek which was insane then moved to the main river above Hudson. there sure was no lack of boat traffic however. Folks need to use common sense and respect others while boating. My opinion all the traffic and being...

man its slow out there. The few we're catching are fat and healthy but short. Same with everyone I've talked to. Talked with a biologist and he said they aren't sure whats going on but they're starting to get worried. Anybody catching keepers consistently? deke

Well, the water here on the Potomac is STILL 72 degrees!!! It just doesn't feel like striper season. Same with the fish; they aren't coming up the Potomac too far yet since it's so warm. I want to see water get down to 55-65 degrees!!! We caught a couple of nice blues this past weekend, but no...
