The early part of the season started out decent for me and now it has just died out over the past week or two. Are they all up in the catskills now or is my luck running out. Im hoping to have better luck when they head south. What do u guys think and are u catching or fishing?

I'm viisiting poughkeepsie for a couple of days at the end of June.
I'm coming from the uk & have no experience of fishing here at all.
Can anybody recommend where I could go to fish in the evening for a couple of hours?
Should I try the hudson or the ponds/streams around poughkeepsie?
I am new to the area and to the forum. I plan on going surf casting tomorrowwith my kid and would appreciate any help for the Poughkeepsie or Newburgh area for good spots. Also should I use live bait or Lures. thanks in advance.
