How long do you make your leaders for your tandem rigs you pull on your planer board rods? I'm new to planer board fishing, I've got to make up some rigs and I want to get them fishing right. Thanks for any info in advance.

As the title states I plan on running a Sea Strike #1 planers. Attached to the end of the planer will be a snap swivel and then the fluorocarbon leader.
On the Sea Strike website they recommend a 20-30 feet leader.
This seems rather long to me and I'm not sure how easy this would be to land a...

I have been working very hard to make a better BulletBobber that will exceed every fisherman's desire. I would tell you what you are looking at and how to use "ProwlerPlaners" but I want to hear what you see??? What is and isn't obvious? Is there any...
I don't make plugs but this may be something plug builders want to try.
Designing planer boards is a hobby I am hooked on and wanted to share my ideas and developments. I sell BulletBobber and DualFin planers that flip direction but realized many folks just want small user friendly planers...
Great forum lots of good info, what is the best planer board to try, fishin for stripers, largemouth- A little skeptical of some of the ads- Have a 17 ft. boat with trolling motor in freshwater.
Thanks, busted
Hey guys was wondering if any one has a suggestions on how to keep the main line on my planer boards tight while trolling. My main line is about 75 feet and seems to get a lot of slack in it while trolling. when the line is loose it makes my rod lines jump ?? Is this correct?
My bug gjust bought a 17.5 goot bowrider for saltwater. he told me to buy a boat rod if i want and get it filled with line and your own lures to troll for stripers in the merrimack river or off the coast of massachusetts and and or new hampshire. i wanna fish planr boards, umbrella rigs, deep...
I have spent a little more time exploring Stripes in the middle Tn area, Cordell Hull primarily because of the low boat traffic. Up to now just dragging some various hard baits and buck tails and an occasional spoon of sorts. I have some luck when a school is wacking baitfish on the surface but...
I have never used either the Umbrella rig or a planer board. My fishing is currently going to take place in and around Cordell Hull an impoundment on the Cumberland River here in middle Tn. I have dragged some lures around without much success just to get a feel for the boat and trolling speeds...

I have chartered a boat out of Kingston. The captain only used down riggers. i was wondering if anyone has ever used BIGJON planer boards. If yes what kind of rapala? And how deep should i fish? It will be my first time on my own. I dont want to get skunked!
Has anyone ever tried this?? My idea is to run my mainline to a 3 way swivel with a bottom bouncer or walking sinker for weight followed by 6-8 feet of flouro leader and a large crank bait or maybe even tube n worm... My thinking is that the weight will keep it close to bottom for the tube n...
I've never used them before. For smaller planers (freshwater), do you run separate lines: one for the planer board and one for the bait line? Or do you put the planer on the same line like a bobber/baloon? If it's best to use separate lines, what type of line/rigging device do you use for the...
Howdy all, new to the board but I love the site. I sure wish striper fisherman were more connected out here on the west coast. I fish the california aqueduct for stripers and was wondering if anyone out there has presented lures or bait from the shore using planer boards to hold lure position...
