So I'm working out of town in Catskill. The creek runs right across the street from the job site. A local told me they catch strikers just down stream from where I'm working, so my question is, do strikers actually run up the creek?

For any shore fisherman if your looking for somewhere to go fishing I would advise you not to go in front of the high school unless you want to deal with six or seven boats at any given time. Don't no how you would cast or even land a fish if you had the opportunity to have that happen. Just...

Just wondering if anyone has had any luck jigging herring from their boat in the Catskill Creek closer to the river. If so any advice? I have seen guys up near the school but I am not that familiar with that end and am a little leery of taking my boat up there. I may try it when the tide is...

Greetings, While I have yet to get out this year- the last few years I've gone out in search of stripers primarily from the Catskill area (once or twice in Cheviot). All the times we used chunk herring and all the times the only fish we caught were cats and eels. Not even a run or a bite from a...

Looking for a campsite on the side of the river in that area that also is a good shore spot. Answer by PM is ok to keep the spot not too well known. I know a decent portion of the camp spots, but haven't had much luck is the late 90's, so I stopped fishing when I camp. Most seem to have a...

Has anyone been out down that way lately? I'm wondering if the rain has the river too dirty to fish? I haven't been out in a week, and this weekend is a bust for me. I might give it a shot even though it will be the last of the outgoing and whole incoming tide that I can fish. Not sure if...

I got a boat late in the season. Going out tomorrow, maybe tonight too in catskill. I have not had a good year, catch is zero. When's a good time to bring the boat southward, like the newburg area instead of catskill for stripers. Kingston is a possibility too. Sounds like alot of guys...

I am shore bound this year. I fish the catskill park by port of call and various spots in the creek in town. The river side has one heck of a tide to work against at the park, I think my rig is getting dragged into a big rock and not presenting well. You can fish the creek mouth at the...
