went out at 1230 first cast 32 stripper most of my keepers are at night. So for i caught 22 strippers for the season in 4 days. lots of 17 inches.

Is the Shakespeare Ugly Stik Bigwater a decent rod for stripering? I have heard the Ugly Stik Tiger is better, but can't find one locally. I use spinning reels exclusively...so that narrows my options. I have had just as good luck with my other Uglys...at least as good as the more expensive gear.

So, when the stripers are reluctant to bite, I sometimes rig up a small piece of chunk on my jigging rod and play with the cats. Biggest I've caught is probably 3 pounds or so.... but a whole lotta fun when a 17 pound bass grabs my bait rod!
