I live in Springfield, MA. Two of the bordering towns East Longmeadow and Wilbraham both have cases of West Nile this week.

Oh man thats terrible news.

I just read today that it was found in Exeter, next town over, in mosquito pooks right next to my favorite pond there. Friggin A. I went to my bro's in Exeter, and was supposed to take his 2 boys to the pond, but it rained. Glad we didnt go now. It was found in towns in the western part of the county, but it has been spreading eastward the past few weeks.

I imagine this is just another "allergic reaction" from nature to over-development etc. Its pretty bad that its gettin to the point where we are afraid to be outside, and do the things we enjoy the most.

Jeesh! Do not panic for cryng out loud! Protecting yourself against mosquito bites is prevention 100 level. But if you want to cower inside leaving all those Stripers and Blues to me fine. :-) I can live with that.

came home last night and a car with a bullhorn comes down my block (thought was election propaganda) when i heard him say "go inside! close windows etc." right behind him was a pickup spraying for west nile in both directions. i flew into my front door, ran up and quickly closed the windows. man i was pissed but the west nile here is for real and tomorrow morning at 4am before i venture to the water i will be well doused with deet.

The skeeters definitely suck this year. The area where I live has seen west nile and EEE. A clydesdale foal near where my horse is boarded died from EEE and also a little kid. Dick's sells 100% DEET for the outdoors folks. I also use the Raid Area Fogger. It keeps 'em away pretty good. You can't let the little blood suckers win.
