THE SRING RUN HAS BEGUN!!!!!!
Me and my fishing partner fished Wed. March8 below Mitchell Dam on Lake Jordan. We got into some decent salts, small ones 10 to15 lbs.and some 20 plus pounders. They were hitting on the surface how sweet it is.The run to the dams has begun inAlabama's south central part of the state. The next 2.5 months will be great.Water temperature 64 at 1 oclock and 57 at 6 oclock.Had been avg. 55.Ofcourse I know these are small fish to you saltwater anglers but the20 plus are fun with an ocasional 30plus.Looking forward to a great spring.I hopeyou all enjoy screaming drags and bent rods.

Nothin wrong with a 20# at all. Especially freshwater. Most of our freshwater Stripers here don't go over 5-10#, we Only get the big girls in the spring pre and post spawn in the bay. Its the guys up north that get the fun all summer long.

Jeff - fish-aholic
Thanks for responding, the spring bite on artificial baits is great. What is really cool is when the water temp gets above 75 and the big fish stack up in the creeks where ever there are cold water springs.June thru Aug. we catch fish between 20to30 lbs. more often than not on shad 8 inches to 14 inches. We catch these fish in 2 to 6 feet of water in creeks that you can cast across with ease. When they hit it is like they are shot out of a cannon. It makes for some great summer action. Our goal is to catch a state record salty.Alabama rec.just over 55 lbs.May not ever get it but it sure will be fun trying. If your ever down in Bama look me up I love to hunt the illusive salt water stripe in our lakes and creeks. F.K.Howell -Keith.

hybrid afternoon
Me and my buddy fished below Lay Dam today. We caught a dozen or so hybrids8 to 10 lbs. in about an hour.Water temp. was 61.The bite was fast and hard but still a little disapointing.Wish they would have been salts.Still better than work.Pretty good fight on light tackle in heavy or fast current.Oh well looks like its back to Jordan dam tomorrow afternoon after a turkey hunt in the morning.Damn Ilove spring.

Are you guys both getting your info from basin? I read the same report I think. I think I just might have to get my gear in order and quick.
