Re: CT River?
NPike,
Yes!! and now too!! I've actually been out there a few times already but the river has been real fast and muddy.. But I plan to go a lot in the next month or 2.. Today I think I 'm gonna hit up the Chicopee boat launch, or a couple other spots in this area.
I am new to striper fishing in the river, as Ive done tons of troput fishing the last bunch of years..A few of my friends are successful with stripershere and out at the Cape.. So I do have some guidance but I wanna learn more!
I have a decent Spinning set-up andI plan to chunk frozen baits, blood worms andmaybe lures..
Let me know if you wanna meet up sometime!

Re: CT River?
Are their Alewife's stacked by Holyoke or Enfield? I never hit the CT. river until I know the river isn't too high and until at least May 5th.

Re: CT River?
Cool! Can't wait! I actually went down to the chic boat ramp this morning and the water level is def going down and current is a lot less drastic. I threw out sand worms and nothin.. I am planning on going again this afternoon and using mackerel chunks/blood worms..
It seems probably too early still but hey, why not try.. it is gorgeous out.. I'm thinking of going on west springfield side today near BMW dealer..
Ever have luck there?

Re: CT River?
Just updating y'all.. Haven't caught any yet, however, I was down at the Chicopee boat ramp to see some guys getting their boat out of the water..asked them if they caught any, and they showed me a beautiful 32" Striper caught from Shad chunks.. they said it was 1 of 2 they caught..the other was about 25", not a keeper..
Goin again tonight! I can't wait to post a pic of mine, when I catch em of course..
ttyl,
Max

Re: CT River?
Ok, my pathetic update here:
After countless sessions trying to catch these F*^&ckers, thisis all Ive caught..while others next to me hooking up with keepers..
And I had to keep this guy cuz he totally swallowed my hook and I was taking too long digging it out.. didn't wanna hurt him as I was truely trying to save him and put him back.. but he will have to be my first taker I guess.. The big ones are soon to come!
Anyone else have updates on the CT river action? They have been strong in this area, just not on my pole..

Re: CT River?
All over now. Seems they're roaming and when you get into one the whole schools with them. Usually a couple fish one drift then nothing until you find a mess of them.

Chicopee boat ramp had alot of action today. I passed it on the highway. Was there another derby? I thought the shad derby was last weekend.
