thread finish removal

I stupidly applied flex coat thread finish without backing the top foot holder on the reel seat off and now it is stuck to the threaded area just south of the top cork handle. Tried to hack into it a little with an exacto but its stuck good. Going to use the reel clamp for this season. Anyone know if there is a solvent that will dissolve flex coat? Otherwise is there a way to get the reel seat off? Never had to do this in eight years I have been building.

There is no solvent that will move it without doing damage to everthing around it. You might try heat. A little shot with a heat gun makes guide wrap removal much easier. If you must remove the seat, lets hope you have at least an eighth inch of seat bushing. Take a dremel with a carbide wheel, make four lengthwise cuts around the seat This is where the eight inch bushing allows you to cut seat and not blank. Apply some heat and pry the four sections from the blank. Go slow and careful with the dremel and heat.
