CALLING ALL STRIPER ANGLERS - HELP WANTED - 2 UK anglers visiting Montauk area in September

Two keen anglers from the UK have been watching the satellite fishing programmes and have become obsessed with catching some stripers and bluefish. We have decided to visit the Montauk area in the very last week of September/first week of October for a weeks fishing and have booked up two charter days.

What we were really hoping for was the opportunity to meet up with some local striper anglers that would be keen to take two competent anglers but complete striper novices out to some of their favourite fishing areas whether it be shore or boat. Obviously anyone willing to share a day out on their boat would have diesel costs fully covered. Ideally we would like to lure fish or fly fish for them but are openminded to all methods - obviously as we are travelling across the atlantic and have limited fishing time we would like to maximise our chances.

We are both avid anglers and have a 14ft dory day boat which we use for saltwater bass fishing on inshore UK waters in the summer and for pike on the rivers. We could offer fishing trip favours in return in the UK for anyone that is able to help us out with some quality striper experiences. Myles is a professional angling coach/guide in the UK and offers all sorts of guiding through http://www.carpschool.com/. Huggy is just a keen angler that targets all species. I'm sure we'd have something to offer anyone visiting the UK.

Any striper anglers out there willing to share some fishing time (and some drinking time) with two fun English anglers? Any boat anglers in need of some company and all their fuel/bait expenses paid for?
Would welcome any info on anything Striper related in the Montauk area around October time such as locations and favoured methods etc... All help and info welcomed.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi guys, I had a member of our London office over last summer and landed him some nice stripers up here in Massachusetts. He was quite fun to have on board as he is used to fishing trout, grailing, etc., so everytime the rod tip jiggled as we trolled along he would grab it and haul up... I told him wait, you'll know when one hits. This went on for like 20 minutes, finally he's not touching the rod when along comes this 40" striper who doubles over the rod, and he's looking at me with a perplexed look asking 'is that a fish, mate?' as line if flying off the reel... I was laughing too hard to to tell him yes.

Anyhow, you might get a better response by posting in the regional forums, which I think tend to be more heavily read be locals. Also, you may consider a charter boat as well, the local captains can alway you the business and will definately put you on fish... they will also be happy to have a few pints with you I am sure.

Good luck and enjoy the fishing!
