An 8 GB SD card shouldn't cost any more than 7 or 8 bucks, but I don't think that's what you're looking for. If you're talking about cartography, I don't know of any available strictly for NY. My Humminbird came pre-loaded with Navionics Gold w/Hotmaps Premium. That gives me the coastal waters and Eastern lakes. Are you fishing salt or fresh water?

I am in VA. I have the Navionics Basic chip and it does exactly what I need it to. My unit is the H-Bird 898 hdsi. The platinum chip really runs a bit slower in these units, and the 3d feature is not available in most places, especially not many rivers. Having the chart when in the river is ESSENTIAL! It marks the channel, shallow areas, buoys, shipwrecks, powerlines, and all that good stuff. I bought mine 2 years old off of bbcboards.net, for $55.00 shipped. Well worth it. Most of the Nav chips go down the rivers and out off the coast about 3 miles.
