Thats awesome. Years ago at the end of the rondout I was jigging for herring in 5 ft of water and watched a 42" striper inhale the herring that just grabbed my rig and most of the rig....it was quite a fight on light tackle but I managed to get him in.
Ya never know what your going to catch in the Hudson . . Definitely channel and bullhead. ..look at the tails. . Yesterday I had 20" to 23" stripers circling/slashing at my top-water (chug bug) in three ft of water. . Only about two to three ft from shore. . Didn't hook up but the day before I got a nice 23"er fishing that way. . C/R of course. .
Bullheads are scarce these days. In the 90's that's all there were. Big ones. But now the channel cats have taken over. Invasive species. A nicer catfish, but they don't belong here. Swam down the canal from the Ohio River or some shit.
