Default What size spinning reel for ocean?

I live on the west coast, but people here don't take spinning reels in the ocean very seriously so asking for advice always turns into a conventional vs. spinning reel debate.

I'm wondering if an 8000 size spinning reel should be adequate for tuna, white seabass, and other fish up to 50 lbs. (but probably more around 25-35 lbs.) or if I should get a 12000 size. I'm planning on spooling with 65 or 80 lb. powerpro and using mono topshot.

The reel I'm considering is the Shimano Thunnus CI4 (http://www.basspro.com/Shimano-Thunn...10060/-1743962). If I can get away with the 8000 size I'd definitely prefer that, but if I need to go up to the 12000 I'll do it.

Hi Gavin,
The Thunnus 8000 can only hold 180 yards of 65lb test braid (actually probably more like 150yds with some backing under it). That's probably fine for WSB, but I think you'd want more capacity for tuna.
