Default Rockfish are at weldon

Drove down Saturday night went to RR Lake and caught some bait.

After reading the Roanoke River Report on the NC Wildlife website Thursday I took gear for Rockfish and Shad.

Got up Sunday morning and hit the Roanoke River around 8:00. Felt confident we wouldn't need the Shad rods so left them in the truck. Fished until 2:30. Had 2 Roanoke River green horns with me but they picked up the drifting thing after a couple passes.

Managed 46 with 4 in the release slot. Largest was 25 1/2". For the most part the rest were keepers with a few under 18" mixed in.

Was a very nice day on the water and boat traffic was low.

If you've never been down to the Roanoke for the spring Stripers you should give it a try.

And for all that may be interested, don't forget the Boy & Girls Club Tourney on the 24th.

Default Re: Rockfish are at weldon

Thanks to all who have registered for this weekend's Striper Tourny to benefit the Boys & Girls Club. There are still spots available so please come on down to Weldon this Saturday and catch some Rockfish and get in the running for the cash & prizes!!! You can register there at the landing on Saturday morning by seeing the folks from the Boys & Girls Club at the pavilion.

Just a tidbit of info, the winning fish last year was right at 5.50lbs...........That's right, a small keeper walked away with the 1st place $$$$$. Sure there were bigger fish caught that day but you have to be in the game to win!! If the winning fish is over 35lbs the angler could win a boat motor and trailer too!!!!

Anyone with questions please click on www.addictionoutdoors.com or pm me.

Thanks and hope to see you there,
