i was down looking for herring to come in and got nothing not even a shadow, the water is really muddy up here so look out down south it is coming your way and they opened the locks this weekend. as for the water temps. just remember albany is usually warmer because of the sewer outlets up there, some spots don't even freeze.

I fish the Rondout area and I'm thinking we should start seeing schools move in this weekend, of both herring and small stripers, especially up in the creeks.

Sorry to disagree with you on the temps but I was out today from Cornwall down to bear mountain water was no way warm as my Furuno FCV295 had it a tad warmer than 38

The temps can be locally different. I was fishing a for the most part shallow stream yesterday and the upstream temps was 39 degrees and five miles downstream it was already up to 47. So locally its going to depend on where you take them. I suspect that a temp on Esopus Meadows would be very different from that of the Elbow.

These 25-degree nights are not helping. Oh well. My plans next weekend got kind of Fubar-ed anyway, so I don't mind the delay. I do wish I was out there though.

Used to fish the Hudson when I was a kid with my Dad when he worked at Otis Elevator (35 years ago) when times were tough...nothing like hooking up with a Bass or a Tommy Cod....May have to run up there again. We'll be fishing the FCA Manhattan Cup on May 15th again, great time, just google Manhattan Cup for details as this is a charity event and in years past we had Wade Boggs, Clarence Clemmons, Mike Stanley of the Yanks/Red Sox etc...great catch and release event, prizes etc..

Just looking how much the river temps jumped in the past over a 7 day period in mid MARCH and we could quite possibly be seeing a major influx of herring and stripers this week. By the looks of it the cold spell is supposed snap tuesday and just get nicer and nicer as the week progresses. get all your last minute stuff done cause it's on this weekend fellas
