Heading to NJ for a wedding this weekend, and have been reading up on the Hudson..never fished it before. I will be closest to the Tappan Zee area, and have heard a few things here and there about that general area for this time of year, for the beginning of the spawn. Any suggestions/ Ideas you might want to lend to a Boston/Cape Cod angler who is dying to experience another fishery during a spectacular time of year? Thanks my friends.

Hey everybody,
Anyone hear of any stripers in Piermont yet? I figure they could move up with all of the warm weather.

we normally see herring arrive here in mid april ''april16th'' . we had them here last year bye the 19th . . in another 2 weeks you should start hearing more reports coming in from down south. but it has to stay warm. last year when the herring arrived up here the water was almost 50 degrees. we have a ways to go to get to that temp ... soon though

I saw that most of next week's night are supposed to stay above freezing, not much but above none the less...with the warm days predicted we should see the water start to warm at a decent pace.

It is a long way from Albany to Poughkeepsie

How bout sticking Catskill in between those two points.

Skipping over Catskill and Kingston is leaving a lot of people out in the cold.

I'd appreciate it if you could fit them in.

Thanks.

Default Re: Current Hudson river condition updates

Hello People, Just an update on river conditions!

Rivers Freshen is still flowing, very swift moving ebb tide, there is alot of debris in the water; mostly deadheads and barrels, some tires.

Water clarity is dismal, doto swift current. The farther North the worse it gets.
Avg temp 38 F
