Default avet reel opinions

I just had the oppurtunity to use an Avet reel on a boat trip. i really liked it..... whats the opinions on these reels? I was thinking of getting an all around reel to use on the boat, when I go for fluke/stripers/blues/blackfish any suggestions?

You can't go wrong with one. IMHO, the best value for the buck.

One of the sweetest conventional surf reels I ever cast off a beach was a modified/magged Avet SX. Holds an amazing amount of braid for such a little reel and has a huge amount of cranking power.

I'm only familiar with the SX model, perhaps someone else can chime in on the JX, LX, and MX

I've talked to alot of guys on the West Coast, and they swear by them. The SX is a power house. I've heard of guys pulling up 100+ Lb fish on them. You cant go wrong for the price either.

I have an MX and an SX. Awesome reels once they got their bearing issues worked out.

I have an two Avet SX 2-speed its great, but if you have not bought one yet wait 2-3 weeks they r comming out with the same lines sx,mx, jx lx ,hx, but with cast controls. They will cost 100+ over the same model without it. I have one thats never been used a gold sx 2 speed and would like to get 250 for it. It cost me 300+ tax. I dont want to magg this one, so im selling it and gonna buy a new one when they come out. According to Avet SXs are made to catch 80 lb fish repetitevly. I am not sure, but I hear they caught fish over 120lbs. To think the biggest species im after are stripers-lol Good luck

I have been wanting to get one, an MX, for casting. I know they are fast, and that's ok, 'cause I am too. But I have so many others right now, that it would not make sence to get a new reel. But I like 'em, and think they are a BLAST!
