There were herring in Red Hook last year?? Couldn't tell by the lousy luck I had catching them. That whole area down there seems to be producing fewer and fewer fish. A few years ago we had a three striper day all 30" or greater and herring were never a problem. I wonder sometimes if the fish are just staying in the deeper waters.

I was in the Catskill Creek today with my canoe all the way up to the second set of Railroad Pylons (approx 1/2 mile upstrean from 9w) and threw the stoolie all over and NO sign of herring. Talked wit a person wita 100' gill net and he had na-da in the river in 2 hrs of set net .

Good deal ... none @ the Henry Hudson, just got back, water is still stained a little too. But at least they are just south of us. You should be seeing them anytime in your area !!!

Spent an hour yesterday looking for them in the Rondout Creek and didn't see a thing. Was casting a large spoon, water seems warm enough but none to be found. Seems a little early in spite of the mild winter.
