Default liberty state park area

Anyone fish this spot before? Just moved here over the summer, just finally had to get a chance to get my gear from back home. Any advice would be helpful, thanks.

How is this area in the spring? I just got a new/used boat in the fall and have yet to get her on the water. Ive always wanted to fish the area but know nothing at all about it. Any input on the area at other times of the years?

I would imagine the spring has to be hot. We fish way up the hudson around May-June in Newburgh area so all the fish that get up that far have got to go thru the area of statue of liberty. Any advice on baits? Do people plug for them or bait like worms and chunks? Any advice you guys have would be great. Cant wait for it to warm up alittle to get back on the water I finally have a boat that can handle the current and waves and it has to be such a cool senic area to fish. Thanks for any thoughts or advice!

I havent fished ny/nj in many years but I grew fishing ny harbor. I never fished Liberty State Park but have fished Battery Park, Brooklyn side of Verrazzano and under the Jersey side of GWB. April/May should be your best months for migrating fish. I used to use whole sandworms. Besides stripers you should get into bluefish and shad. Im sure there are resident fish from spring to fall.Good luck.
