Default IBSP launch

Can a YAK be launched from the ocean side of IBSP? I have heard you can launch only from the bay but I have seen several buggies carrying YAKS down the ocean side.

I don't think there's any prohibition to launching from the beach. See http://www.islandbeachnj.org/Recreation/kayaking.html

Fishing kayaks are not made for the surf ride back IN. You'll want to use an ocean kayak to fish the open water in order to get back ashore...if there are no waves, the fishing kayak is okay...they dump easy in small surf tho! Like 1 foot...once it gets a little sideways it's rolling over, so lash down your gear for the trip in! A sit-in yak has no place on the open water, unless TOTALLY flat for the same reasons, except it has the added disadvantage of being terribly heavy when it fills with water after dumping in 1 foot swells! The fishing yak and sit-in are okay for bayside, but use the right tool for the job! Ocean kayak for ocean fishing!
Best Wishes and stay safe!
