Rain, Rain, Go Away... Kennebec River is flowing at over 40000 cubic feet per second. Once river settles and clears Striper Fishing is going to bust wide open... They are here but almost impossible to fish for... Once the dust settles. The hunt is on... Will post as soon as the bite is on...
:smiley17e:
Rivers starting to look real good.. Warm weather coming things are starting to sizzle... Tons of Bait in the Sebasticook River... Counted 15 Eagles hunting... On vacation starting Saturday for Striper Week... Good luck to all who hunt the elusive Stripers.... Will post pics.. St. Croix all the way.
Good to hear that the conditions are improving. I fished the Kennebec about a week ago and caught a 20 inch shad, no stripers. First time i've ever caught a shad, I foul hooked it. Good fight, lots of them in the river as I pulled up a few scales on my hook a couple different times.
Things in the Kennebec are getting alot better. Caught a 36 incher in Sebasticook on monday. I posted pic. Schoolie action is hot also we have together caught over 100 fish in 3 days... Caught so many on Monday between 11 and 1 that I had to stop fishing my hand was cramping up... Top water only. Jumping minnow is the hot lure right now... Got alot of rain coming thursday into weekend. Definitly will raise water levels again... aaargh. Bait fish are still running by the thousands... Talked to a gentleman and his wife yesterday that flew up from Bowdoinham in his helicopter they were counting Eagles along Kennebec and Sebasticook. They said they counted 47 of them. Its an awesome sight to be fishing and watching baldeagles snatch bait from river right in front of you... Starting out to be a record year for us. St. Croix all the way

Its funny how when the Stripers start smacking Topwater its like an addiction.. My Son and I Fish every evening together.. He's turned into a good StriperFisherman.. Last Night we had a few more guys show up, the words getting out... I could tell they were very green to striper fishing, we watched as they fished with not any luck as to a hit.. Then my son has enough of watching and first cast stuck a 26 incher.. Should have seen look on other kids face.. My son caught 10 more shoolies.. What kid wouldnt be hooked on Striperfishing? The two fellows fishing came over and said what are we doing wrong, your son is smashing them... We are alittle curious.. Of course Lure choice and color and size make a huge difference.. I gave the kid one helpful tip, work your lure alot slower than what you have been doing.. First cast he nailed his first ever Striper, he was excited and should I say. HOOKED!!!!! St. Croix all the way... p.s. The Big Boys are starting to invade... know of three 36inchers caught and one 38 incher caught in Kennebec... Cant say by who though?
Thought I would post a reminder of the new regulations for people that there is a one hook limit on artificial lures this includes a treble hook until july 1. I had forgotten about this until I just re-read the regulations.
That regulation has been in place for a few years now... Took yesteday off from work to hit the river, I knew it was going to be a smashing day... Caught over a dozen 30 inch class fish... Things are really starting to sizzle in the Kennebec... St.Croix all the way....
Day off Tueday got into a few Pigs... Thats my son Spencer who loves to Striper fish can't you Tell!!!! St.Croix all the way Hopefully the Big 40 plus ones are coming... Time will tell...
Finally river has dropped we got into dozeen of these boys on Sunday.... Had a 40 incher on unfortanetly He cut me off 150 Yards downstream... Thats Striper fishing.... St.Croix all the way
Holly Molley, Rivers Flowing at over 35000 cubic feet per second alot of dirty water coming down... Hopefully clears up in a few days then we will be back at it.. Hunting the elusive Striper... St.Croix all the way
Nice going on some real nice fish. You still seeing decent numbers of fish, or has it dropped off?
Reason I ask, is that it has been a bit slow, down around Portland/Scarborough area, very hit & miss.
hey i know people don't really disclose locations but I was wondering if you could give me some maybe general location adivice? I live in Bath and have fished alot off the local beaches like popham and have had no luck. Is the river section below the dam near seadog brewery a good spot? I have good equipment now but would like to try the kennebec or other local rivers, but just don't know where to go
Finally figured out my password.. 2014 Stiper Season hopefully is going to be as smashing as last year.. Alewife Run is on Huge alot of Fish.. Should be a great year! Picture is my ******* daughter barehanding alewifes.. Alot of fun... Town of Benton Hosting its Annual Alewife Festival.... Way to go Benton!!!! St.Croix all the way...
