Default eating raw????

Sorry have to ask (me and the lady love sashimi ) .... does anyone know if we can eat raw fresh caught bluefish? (I know its not bass related but I don't keep them) I am aware of the flavor of Blue and we both like it but I really know what you need to have "sushi grade fish". I live in CT if it matters

Much thanks
Jim

You can eat most anything raw. Cooking kills parasites in the animals flesh as well as any microbes on the surface or that which might be left over from preparing.

Your digestive system & immune system can handle some parasites and bacteria. Or not.

Some species are more prone to parasites that are better adapted to withstanding the human digestive & immune system. Others less so.

Eating raw is a roll of the dice each and every time.

I've eaten raw clams straight out of the bay. Are they any "cleaner" than a blues flesh? I doubt it!

Personally, I'd not risk eating raw anymore. What's the upside as opposed to the potential downside?

Then again, I may change my mind on the in the "heat of the moment" (cough*afterafewbeers*ahem)

Problem is that bluefin tuna arent cute enough. If they were as cute and cuddly looking as a seal pup, a panda, or even the "majestic" whale, there'd be a little more outcry amongst the bleeding heart groups du jour.

Then again, its Japan. I dont expect much outcry against them. They put the Kyo in Kyoto, afterall.

(taking off jaded hat now... stepping down off soap box!)
