Default Questions about Tides and their Height

Is it important to pay attention to the height of the tides? Do more fish move when tides are higher etc?

roc posted something about tides a few days ago....he said big incomming..or high tide will spread the fish out....the low concentrates them.....so it makes sense to me that you should have more fish in one spot at the dead low..but the fish will come way in close to shore to explore new shoreline areas for the easy meal....fish the beaches and structure..like rocks and ripps, jettys, things like that will hold big fish on the incomming..through thie high and for a bit of outgoing...then try and follow the fish to where they will concentrate for low tide slam time......

its called finding the fish...find a few and follow them around....

Kleb. welcome.
Heres an interesting read on the solunar tables.
Some guys use the tables and some dont. However it is based on science and the earths postioning to the moon.
There is a lot more on this in the info svs reference library forum. specifically Marine resources
A search will show some good discussion on this as well.
Simply put during extreme tides predatory fish like striped bass either concentrate during low or find places to hunt they normally dont get to on the flood stage.

Dam right it is.... Fish play differently on different size tides, how they act on a 9' tide is totally different than how they act on a 12' tide... all in the same month, if nothing else you will have larger temperature swings... bass are moody enough, they dont need their dining room to change 15-20 degerres in a single tide swing...it happens... same goes for the bottom end, bass tend congregate in totally different places and act totally different when the low tide runs off to a 1.5 than they do an a -1.5.... remember, big tides run alot harder than small tides, rips that boil and froth on a big moon tide or a spring tide, may not even show on a "short" tide....

It's something that can only be learned with time....

another thing to take into consideration with the tide height is the amount of current change you get the higher or lower the tide the more current you get.

When fishing skinny waters I look at tides. Current flow is more important that tidal movement when it comes to catching striped bass.
