Default Coming Home!

As a native Long Islander who's been away for over 25 years because of military career(USMC 1970-1991) and other job committments, I finally get the chance to come home. I used to head out to Montauk from Babylon at least twice a week with surf-casting rig strapped to the top of my red 67 VW bug. Other times I would stay local and hike out to Democrat Point for night time striper fishing and weakfish. I can't wait to get the spray of salt water in my face again !! I'm basically starting all over again and I'll be watching the forums for tips and tricks. People here in Texas stand shoulder to shoulder for crappie(!) so I'm used to someone casting over my shoulder :)

Thank you for your service, and Glad to hear you are returning to the salt.

Fish haven't changed much from what I understand. The landscape may have though. The gear is a bit different but the premise remains the same.

Glad to have you aboard.

If you fish Montauk Lighthouse and catch a blitz you're sure to be shoulder to shoulder instantly. I had the pleasure to fish there this fall for the 1st time. If I lived near there I'd be out probably every night. I met a few people from this site and others while there. Good people. No problems

I also just finished reading John Skinner's book "A season on the edge" in which he writes about his experiences fishing there. Great book in my opinion.

Hoping to get back there again.
