Default plum last night

me and a buddy pulled an all nighter at the refuge (parking lot 1 i think) i thought we were going to kill em last night... the moultons at surfland said fish are everywhere.so i was pumped... got there about 7pm had a great hit about 8,had the fish on for about a min, then snap!!broke off at the leader,i was bummed.... then, nothing but skates all night... couldn't keep any clams on the hook, the surf was huge and i'm thinking that was the reason for losing bait. maybe if i bring in the heavy tackle next time i'll have better luck..... till next weekend good luck all. Don

Keep some lite test for winding the clam. It holds it to the hook great and the fish don't seem to mind.

There are alot of fish on the ocean front, but the rough surf has kept me away from them(by boat) I got into them early in the week....

Try using a float to get your bait up, make a switch from clams to cut mackerel, herring or pogies, also sea worms work great as well, you can always toss a plug as well....
