I've a 18 foot Hydrasport. I trailer it and mostly put in the Westport River. I do OK. I'm relatively new to the Westport area (and work in Boston during the week) and don't know too many locals. It is hard to be captain and crew and fish, so more often than not I just anchor up and fish the tides or troll some tube and worm rigs.

If you want to jump on some day you're welcome, but I'm still on the learning curve!

Cool! I work pretty long hours during the week, but Saturdays are usually free now. Shoot me a PM when you know when you're going out next and I'll see if I can swing it.

I did the same thing you did Butcha, and I scratched my head as I read through Jakes post about being new to the water and getting skunked. It didn't make much sense to me as 2 years ago at the Maine gathering Jake was there and I didn't get the impression that he was a googan by any means. It wasn't until I read more that I noticed the date and then it hit me that it was 5 years old. Roc probably wasn't looking at this post to begin with but because you commented on it it came up as a thread with a new post......a similar mistake that I made myself.

What a difference five years makes. Great read reminds me of some of the struggles I have had in the past getting onto fish. Who am I kidding fish always keep me guessing even when I am on them.

Wow,,, always amusing to read some of the threads from back when I first got into this game. It's a different ballgame now, and enjoying the heck out of it. Right now there's a stuffed skunk hung by it's neck in a noose from the roof rack of my truck as a reminder of those days. The skunk may be dead, but the hunt is alive and well

By the way, my dad did land the first and only striper of his life when he came to visit that year (see below).

Sadly, Parkinson's Disease has ravaged him since that time, and in spite of consuming nearly 80 pills a day, most days he can hardly walk or speak.

Like so many other bits of wisdom that Roccus imparted to me when I was first starting out, he was right on the money about just enjoying what little time I had left to be able fish with my dad. Thanks Joe.
