Default San Luis Reservoir/O'Neill Forebay:

Don Pedro: Striped bass are biting at School House Point for anglers using night crawlers and spinnerbaits. Don Pedro Marina west shore (209) 852-2369.

San Luis Reservoir/O'Neill Forebay: Warmer water has produced smaller fish, but some anglers are still reporting limits. Shore anglers are using blood worms at Romero Point to catch eight-pound striped bass. Boaters are using minnows and trolling by Honker Bay. Smaller fish (about 20 inches) have been caught in the Basalt area on bloodworms. Ly's Sporting & Fishing Goods (408) 629-9644.

The striper bite on the California Aqueduct near Taft has slowed a lot since the action first took off early this year, but this weekend it will be one of the only waters in the region without a ton of boats, jet skis, and swimmers in it. Anglers are now averaging four to 10 fish each with the stripers running from 17 to 26 inches and weighing 1-8 to 3-0. But a couple fish to 10-0 have been landed almost daily. The number one bait by far continues to be a lug worm and night crawler combo. Best fishing is just west of the Buena Vista Golf Course along Golf Course Road (just south of state route 119 or the Taft Highway). Bob's Bucket is the only shop in southern Kern County that sells blood worms and lug worms. To get to Bob's Bait Bucket, Take the 99 freeway to the Ming Avenue exit. Take Ming east to South Chester Avenue. Go south 1/4-mile on South Chester Avenue and Bob's will be on the west side of the road. For more information on this bite, contact Bob's Bait Bucket at (661) 833-8657.
