Is this considered a good rod?

Cheers!

My buddy has a couple of the Salt Striker rods that he uses off the beach (religiously)and swears by them. They are relatively inexpensive, pretty durable, plenty of backbone for fighting big fish but also have some give in the tip so you're not winching shorts out of the surf. I have used his a couple times, not really enough to give ya a full product review but in answer to your question, yes, that is a nice rod IMHO.

What about the reel? Has anyone used it before?

Thanks so much for the input.

salt strikers are decent i have a few and havnt had any problems. i do like them and the best part is if it breaks you can bring it back and get a new one. i just broke the tip off a striker pole i had bought 4yrs ago and returned it for a new one no ? asked.

Does anyone have any luck surf-casting lately?

Are stripers showing up already?

Man for some reason these other threads are dead compared to the hudson river!! I was wondering the same as the last post. Anyone know if the Stripers or Blues catchable from shore in the sound? I'm in New Rochelle and j/w if the cooler weather brought back in some decent fish.
