Default got the itch

I fished from the Chicopee boat ramp today in the pouring rain from 6 to 8 at night trying my luck for shad and I finally caught my 1st striper, was about 14 inches and about 3 lbs but I still was excited. This is my 2nd year for stripers and boy do I have the itch. I was using a 1/4oz green shad dart with a Daiwa baitcast reel, i m real happy with the set-up so far, anyway now I can t wait to find some more spots to fish. peace.

Glad to hear someone else is as crazy as me and went out lastnight. I went out at about 6:30 for an hour or so and didn't get a bite. It was still great to get out there even with the rain. Congrats on the fish!

I tried a very prominent river mouth in marshfield, MA. My surf rod broke:(

However, with the stimulus check just in time! I'm thinking of a 13' Any Fish Any where rod! Yeah, time for new stuff.

Any way, I tried using green crabs on a weighted fish finder, and on the hand line that I was only able to throw about 30' into the surf. Nothing using green crabs. They were fresh from my trap too! Any body ever use those things? I do, because they are free, easy to get, and I imagine they will be eaten by any size striped bass. I didn't have time to get sea worms.

You win this time fish, but I'll be back!

I've caught lots of bass on green crabs, although they are not my first choice... try drifting them in the current..... a ballon works good for this, blow it up about the size of a baseball, rig it on a fishfinder and use an elastic cinched around your line for a stop, just add enough weight on the leader to get a lob cast in.... crush up the other crabs and use them for chum.....
