Default INDIAN RIVER INLET

Striper fishing remains mostly a throwback fishery right now, though there have been some super fish caught at night. Red and white bucktails remain the standard fare for tempting stripers right now.

The Indian River Inlet remains the top choice for those wishing to try for a linesider this time of year, though those walking the beaches and tossing plugs at the jetties are nailing some stripers. Again, try low light periods for the best chance of taking a rock this time of year.

Default Indian River Inlet

Indian River Inlet remains a steady choice for striper fisherman. According to Old Inlet Bait and Tackle, a good choice for anglers hitting the rocks in search of a linesider would be to try the early morning hours and choose rigged eel baits.

Other anglers report nailing stripers on bucktails rigged with a plastic worm. The best color appears to once again be the old standby red and white combo. Other anglers report sporadic striper action from the beaches. Live mullet is hard to beat, though these fish are normally under the mandated 28-inch minimum.

Rehoboth Beach, Del.: Old Inlet Bait & Tackle (302-227-7974) says striped bass fishing has picked up in Indian River Inlet?lots of small fish around, but some up to 20 pounds being taken?lots of nice flounder also in the inlet, including some up to 11 pounds taken in the past week?surf fishing should pick up as weather cools, with larger fish showing up during the fall migration?flounder and sea bass being taken out by the ''B'' buoy?offshore action decent for dolphin fish and yellowfin tuna.
