NH fishing report
The stripers have been thick the last few weeks. Tons of bait, mackrel and silversides with a few bunker upriver for good measure. No bass on the bunker that I've seen. The macks are paying the price big time. The bass have been attacking with abandon. The best action has been on the flood tide. Drifting livies and running plugs has been productive. The best fishing has been out along the coast. We've been filling the bait tank and running the mackerel in and around the rocks. They haven't lasted long! Most fish have been 25-28 but some have been in the 30's. For the livies I have found circle hooks to increase the hook up rate to about double a j hook. Plus no gut hooked fish. The abundance of bait may be too much of a good thing since a number of fisherman, myself included have yet to see consistently big fish. My guess is that they just have too much access to an easy meal, all of the fish have been extremely fat.
