Default Totally off topic, but fishing related

I thought I would post this here, since this forum is where I usually post the most.
I went to Colorado this past week to meet my new nephew and future fishing buddy, Richard McFarland "Mac" Harrington. He would be the little guy here:

And while I was there I found some extra time on my hands, so I thought I would go check out flyfishing.
The Gore Creek runs right thru the Vail Village resort area, and there is a flyfishing shop about 50' from the banks of the stream.......I took in one of their free flyfishing clinics with my daughter, and then set out in search of fish on the Gore Creek. Out of the thousands of miles of trout fishing waters available in Colorado, only 168 miles of water are given the designation "Gold Medal Waters", due to the ability to catch trophy fish, and this stretch of Gore was part of the 168 miles. This fact did not help me at all.....
Here's a look at what the Creek looks like in August:

Water's a little low this time of year, but you could literally see the fish holding, the water was so clear.
Here's a shot looking downstream during a morning fishing wade, multi-million dollar private home is in the background....mostly, you could fish right thru past these homes, others had obvious "Private Property" signs posted at streamside.

My brother-in-law Burke took me down-valley past where the Gore Creek runs into the Eagle River (which then flows on into the Colorado River) to a spot where he has caught fish in the past.....we got the skunk, though there were signs of fish. Here's Burke wading downstream of me.

I started fishing upstream from here, where you can just see the riffles ending, and waded back down to this position, when I looked back I saw a fish clear out of the water right where I had been fishing

Final tally:
Fish - 0
Dollars spent - Too Many
Fun - Priceless

Had a couple of hits, had a fish on for about a second, he was gone by the time I got my rod up, and had several follows without takes.
The country out there is God-Awful Beautiful, every time I turned around I wanted to go "Ohhhhh". Can't wait to do it again, unfortunately my fly rod and reel are still in Colorado, waitng for me.

Hee-Hee, ugly bastage is the nicest thing anyone has said to me all day.....Thanks Roc!
BTW the kids Dad is from up your way, the Boston Harrington's.......
As far as stripers nearby, I think there are hybrids down the Colorado a ways, I think they get as far as a dam, and hold there. I didn't get that far down the river......

One of these days I'll explain to you where babies come from.....

But you are right, just being there at sunrise, walking along, stalking the trouties, enjoying the (pretty cold) crystal clear stream, it was no surprise that people treat it like a religion......I could fall in love with it.
