This is my first post - this seems like a great set of forums. You've pretty much got striper fishing covered!! I bought my first boat, although I've fished off and on all my life. Did it to try to forget my health problems, and maybe stretch my time. Boy has it worked so far!! I've always fished for bass, catfish, panfish etc. like nearly everyone. With at least a temporary new lease on life I would dearly love to learn about how to hunt and fish for freshwater stripers. This is something new to me - no such fish in Indiana waters when I stopped fishing years ago.
I have access to several large striper fisheries here in Indiana, and I guess they fall into the non-current type reservoirs. Patoka, Raccoon, Monroe, and Brookville lakes. I have the electronics on my Tracker including a Lowrance 480M with GPS. I know about chasing jumps but that must surely account for small numbers of fish caught compared to others. Can anyone share some information that would help me get started? If any of you are close to Indy I would gladly pay all expenses for a chance to fish with you for a day. I'm a friendly sort, straight, and shower at least once a week. Thanks for the chance to introduce myself. Best wishes. And may you all have tight lines and bent rods!
