Default Indiana Newbie - Want to hunt Indiana Stripers

This is my first post - this seems like a great set of forums. You've pretty much got striper fishing covered!! I bought my first boat, although I've fished off and on all my life. Did it to try to forget my health problems, and maybe stretch my time. Boy has it worked so far!! I've always fished for bass, catfish, panfish etc. like nearly everyone. With at least a temporary new lease on life I would dearly love to learn about how to hunt and fish for freshwater stripers. This is something new to me - no such fish in Indiana waters when I stopped fishing years ago.

I have access to several large striper fisheries here in Indiana, and I guess they fall into the non-current type reservoirs. Patoka, Raccoon, Monroe, and Brookville lakes. I have the electronics on my Tracker including a Lowrance 480M with GPS. I know about chasing jumps but that must surely account for small numbers of fish caught compared to others. Can anyone share some information that would help me get started? If any of you are close to Indy I would gladly pay all expenses for a chance to fish with you for a day. I'm a friendly sort, straight, and shower at least once a week. Thanks for the chance to introduce myself. Best wishes. And may you all have tight lines and bent rods!

Tracker Jon

to the site Jon! You're definately in the right place for good info/advise about fishing for our stripey friends! There are already several members from the Indy area and a lot of people here who fish for stripers in fresh water impoundments,, I'm sure they'll pipe up soon.

Tracker Jon, I live in Louisville, Ky...The sunny side of In. Fish for stripers all the time here in Ky, just starting to fish the Ohio River...almost in my back yard... Better Hybrids than Stripers in the river, but I think the Indiana State record came from there. Feel free to e mail me at [email protected] any time, we'll talk aboput going fishin...
