Default PARTY BOAT CAPTAINS GET A BREAK "2005 porgie regs"

For porgies the reg?s are going to be 25 fish per man at 10-1/2 inches from July 1 through Oct. 31. and it will be the same for NY, CT, RI & MA?.BUT?

There are going to be two of those months where we and other states will get 60 porgies per man?that?s right 60! The party boat captains I believe want those two months to be Sept. & October AND?they get to choose I believe AND?

If the NY DEC raises the porgies to 11 inches, which the party boat captains don?t seem to mind, then they get ?credited? with extra days at sea which by our calculations means another 20 days added to the season. The captains may want to split it with 10 days at the end of June and 10 days into November.

If this is correct it means June 21, to November 10, twenty-five (25) fish per man at 11 inches with Sept. & Oct. 60 fish per man.

Zim what would we do with 60 porgies each. I'd have to get a new freezer. :P That means the party boats can finally make a livin fishin porgies. Good to see they are plentiful. less fishing for stripers I would surmise. I dont know if that will be a good thing. The striper population has grown to 60 millioin. We'll have to wait and see.

too many bones (cept fo da big humpback ones) good eatin in dat case. yea, the boats will fare well this season cause a large majority of fares are lower income folk who drool over porgies and to be able to take 60 as opposed to 25 is a score for them. not to mention the fluke at 5 a man at 17 1/2 inches which is easier to get than 18 in. anyway.
