Default A hard decision.

I just got one of the blue Abu 6500's, the ones that only 300 ( so they say) were produced. Any how, I didn't receive this yet from Sweden, hopefully today.
My question to you, my friends, would you use this, or look at it?

BTW, I can't wait to spool this baby up!

That's easy.
I'd look at it,
On a rod,
sitting in a sand spike,
on the beach,
while waiting for a hit.
See, you can have your Kate and Edith too.

I have a few reels that that never is used as to avoid scratching them. Thinking about it I wonder if it was worth buying them.

What reel did you get that is rare?

Congrats on the reel.

Angry Re: A hard decision.

to not use them would be reel abuse....take a picture of it and frame the pic....beat the living snot out of the reel....like it was made for...beat up old stuff to me has more value than something unused...a good beat up worn out reel means there is history with it..most likely fish caught with it. its worthless if unused....if your afraid to use it..let me know..ill break it in for ya.

Any Abu of which the total run was only 300 total is going to be worth a fortune someday. (maybe already)

Don't even lift it out of the box.

Maybe not Jim. Wait till you see the price. Suds told me not to change out the hooks or fish my flaptails and I figured how much can they be worth? Anyway I did a search and a guy was selling one on ebay for 1600 bucks. I immediately took the new hooks off.

The only story you'd ever have is, "I have a nice reel in a box", if it stayed there. Or worse.

I just dicovered I have a few reels I had forgotten about. And am using them. A Penn 65, I have little recollection of buying served me well this weekend and I hope for it to on many trips to come.

i bought a particular type of plug (a few) as i lost one which bothered me alot as it was a gift while i was in maine. i since collected a few for posterity and because it was discontinued and no longer sold or made, i am going to fish one but that might be it if i lose that one. seems i will have no problem sailing it away but that abu would stay in the box exactly as it came to me (hopefully from the factory packed the way it should be)

Thinking about this situation I realize that I should sell some of my Abus off or maybe hope that it goes up more in value.
